Ranthambhore National Park is one of the renowned Tiger Reserves in India. It is located in Sawai Madhopur district of southeastern Rajasthan, which is about 130 km from Jaipur. It was formerly the hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur, today the Ranthambhore terrain is a major wildlife tourist attraction for wildlife photographers and nature lovers from all over the world.
Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve is spread over an area of 1,334 sq.km out of which Ranthambhore national Park forms the core with a 392 sq.km area and the buffer sanctuaries – the Mansingh Sanctuary and the Kaila Devi Sanctuary forming the rest 942 Sq.km area. The park is majorly famous for its Tiger population and is one of the best locations in India to see these majestic predators in its natural habitat.
Apart from the Tiger, the Leopard, Sloth Bear, Hyenas, Caracal, Civets, Crocodiles and a good variety of Birds and Snakes are also found.
